How Many Different Types Of Steel Bars Are Produced?

TMT bars or Thermo-Mechanically Treated bars are an important constituent of construction materials.

They are highly ductile and have superior flexibility which helps structures made with TMT bars withstand pressure and load.

The reason why steel bars are only of round shape is that a stainless steel round bar or threaded bar is one of the most important players in the machine industry. But in order to meet different kinds of requirements, steel bars come in a variety of forms.

WATCH:

Here are the different forms of Rolled Steel Sections:

  1. ROLLED ANGLE SECTIONS

Rolled Angle Sections

  • These bars are manufactured in “L” shape.
  • They have two legs.
  • Some angle sections that contain legs with similar dimensions are called Equal Angle Sections.
  • These are widely used for roof truss constructions and for filler joist floors.

  1. ROLLED CHANNEL SECTIONS

Rolled Channel Sections

  • Channel section or C-section consists of two equal flanges to web at both ends.
  • These are extensively used in steel framed structures.
  • They are available in various sizes ranging from 100 mm x 45 mm to 400 mm x 100 mm.
  • Their unit weights are 58 N and 494 N pm length respectively.

  1. ROLLED T-SECTIONS

Rolled T- Sections

  • They consist of flange and web arranged in “T” shape.
  • They are mostly used in steel roof trusses to form built up sections.
  • The sizes of rolled T sections size vary from 20 mm x 20 mm x 3 mm to 150 mm x 150 mm x 10 mm
  • Two angle sections can also be joined to get T section.

  1. ROLLED I – SECTIONS

Rolled I - Sections

  • Also known as steel beams or rolled steel joist, these are extensively used as beams, lintels, columns etc.
  • They contain two flanges connected with a web.
  • These are available in various sizes ranges from 75 mm x 50 mm at 61 N per meter length to 600 mm x 210 mm at 995 N per meter length.

  1. ROLLED ROUND BARS

Rolled Round Bars

  • Rolled round bars contain circular cross sections and these are used as reinforcement in concrete and steel grill work.
  • These bars are available in various diameters varying from 5 mm to 250 mm.
  • They are mostly used in the home construction purposes.

  1. ROLLED SQUARE BARS

Rolled Square Bars

  • These bars contain square cross sections.
  • They are widely used for gates, windows, grill works etc.
  • The sides of the square cross section bars range from 5mm to 250mm.

  1. ROLLED FLAT BARS

Rolled Flat Bars

  • These are mostly used for gates, windows, grill works, etc.
  • Flat bars are designed with a width of the bar which varies from 10mm to 400 mm.
  • The thickness of the bars varies from 3mm to 40mm.
