Building the dream home is mostly a one-time affair for an average middle-class person. We all nurture the dream of having our place with the entire design of the place as our brain-child. This is where the entire problem begins. We must realize that no matter how great our dream is we often go out of proportion or far from reality.
- The first advice we would like to give to our would-be homeowners is to always hire a professional from building the exterior to the interior of the house. When your dream home initially gets drawn on a plain sheet of paper to finally finishing the installation of bathroom accessories and electrical gadgets; everything requires expert advice. It is alright to suggest your designer with some design but ensure that you give sufficient freedom to your designer.
- Try going the simplicity way: It is another single best advice we can give our readers. Do not try too hard with the design; on most occasions, we tend to go overboard with conception and ends up repenting.
- Falling into misconception: We all have gone through that phase where while visiting our relative or friend's place fell in love with their home. To replicate that same design, we forget about all the physical or structural difference between the two plots and ends up failing miserably.
- Lack of hallways: This design flaw can turn out to be a massive disaster even before you step foot in your new home. Too less or small halls can create a lot of problems while shifting your furniture to your new home. Having too many hallways is not good as well as it wastes too much space and kills privacy.
- Unnecessary experimentation with the shape of the house: A few years back, there was a growing trend of having L or T shaped home. One must realize that these trends do not last long, and it is advisable to take the simplicity path.
- Do not over-stuff your home with accessories: Never go overboard while going for accessory shopping as it may clutter your place with unnecessary items making your home look small.
- Future family needs: While building or buying home always think about your state twenty years from now. A bachelor pad will look good when you are a bachelor, and the place can turn out to be a massive disaster when you get married.
